Eimers-Guitars developed model EG-670 after many requests from Selmer acoustic guitar players. Obviously there was a strong wish for an archtop guitar based on the Selmer design. Eimers-Guitars developed a 17″ archtop guitar with many Selmer style features and most importantly, the 67 cm scale length liked used on Selmer guitars. This resulted in a archtop jazz guitar with the same ‘feel’ as on a Selmer style acoustic guitar. The guitar is completely hand crafted. The top and back are hand carved and are made of solid European spruce and solid flamed Maple, respectively. The 3 piece neck is made of flamed Maple.
On stage
Stochelo Rosenberg played the EG-670 during a performance at the Django Reinhardt festival in Samois sur Seine 2004, together with Larry Coryel, Sylvain Luc and Philip Catherin.
Optional
Eimers Guitars offers several options, like choice of wood, hardware and finish. The Eg-670 is available in natural and sunburst finish (2 tone, 3 tone) or with a custom finish. Several pickup systems are possible. Also a bridge pickup can be mounted. The guitar is also available with wooden bindings.

Options
All models presented on the website are standard delivered in a specific setup like woods, finish and hardware (tailpiece, tuners, pickup and hard shell guitar case). The options presented here will offer you the possibility to make changes to the guitar according your personal preferences. Please note that the woods I suggest for the guitars (see standard description with each model) are considered the optimal combination. A change of wood may affect the sound of the guitar. Choosing any option will affect the price. The exact additional price(s) will be written down and presented to you in the order form. I am happy to go over your wishes and discuss the possibilities.
Wood for the top
All guitars have very closed grain European Spruce (see image)
Alternatives:
- Engleman spruce
- Sitka spruce
- Western Red Cedar
Wood for the back and sides
There is a large variety of hard wood and tropical wood available for building instruments. It is impossible to keep all these different woods in stock. Let me know what you are looking for and I will inform you about the possibilities. I offer both solid wood and veneers for back and sides. For solid wood guitar traditionally Indian Palisander (Rosewood) is used. Laminated guitars are made from 3 layers of veneers: an inside layer of Mahogany, middle layer of Polar and an outside (visible) layer of Brazilian Palisander (image 1, 2 and 3) or Indian Palisander (image 7 and 8).
Alternative veneers:
- Birdseye Maple (image 6)
- Flamed Maple (image 5)
- Zebrano (image 4)
- Coromandel
- Other veneers: (call or e-mail)
Alternative solid woods:
- Flamed Maple
- Koa
- Other solid woods: call or e-mail for more options
Wood for the neck
Traditionally French Walnut is used for the neck on Selmer style guitars (see image). On model Quatre (Favino style) Maple is used.
Alternatives:
- Mahogany
- Flamed Maple
- Other options: call or e-mail for more wood or combinations.
Finish
The traditional clear lacquer finish with nitrocellulose (image finish 1)
Alternative finishes:
- Antique (authentic aged and used look) (image finish 2)
- Vintage orange nitrocellulose (image finish 3)
- Vintage yellow nitrocellulose (image finish 4)
- Sunburst brown (image finish 5)
- Custom finish (call or e-mail)
Tuning machines
Standard all guitars have Schaller ‘open’ tuners, except for the Signature models and the Antique model. These guitars have replica Selmer tuners, hand crafted by Eimers Guitars.
Alternatives:
- Open Schaller tuners (image tuner 1 and 2)
- Closed Schaller tuners (image tuner 3 and 6)
- Replica Selmer style tuners (image tuner 5)
- Stochelo Rosenberg Signature hardware (image tuner 4)
- Waverly tuners
- Other tuners of interest
Traditionally on all Selmer style guitars a brass replica of the Selmer tailpiece is applied. (image tailpiece 1)
Alternatives:
- Chrome tailpiece
- Brass Favino style tailpiece
- Chrome Favino style tailpiece (image tailpiece 2 and 3)
- Custom tailpiece
Pickups
Standard in most models is the ‘Big Tone’ passive piezo pickup. For the Vola acoustic bass a Fishman pickup.
Alternatives:
- Active pickups like Fishman, LR Baggs or others
- Microphone / piezo system
